Lawrence Deek Deeken, 96, of St. Joseph, formerly of Wathena, Kansas, died Friday, August 25, 2017.Lawrence was born on August 13, 1921, in Wathena, to Matthew and Mary (Gabriel) Deeken.He was a Navy Veteran of the USNTS HedRon, FAW2 from 1944-1946, receiving medals of Victory, Asiatic-Pacific Area Campaign Medal.Lawrence retired from Armours. He loved to dance, play cards and be around his entire family. His smile and good nature will be missed by many. TROY, Kan. Esther (Losson) Weis, 92, of Troy, died Thursday, August 31, 2017.Esther was born on May 7, 1925, in Troy, to Harry and Anna Mae (Blakley) Losson. She lived most of her life in Doniphan County and was a homemaker.Esther is a member of the First Baptist Church, in Troy.She married Alvin O. Kostman on Dec. 26, 1944. He preceded her in death on Sept. 26, 1962.On February 14, 1973 she married Leo Pete Weis.
